A WORKING VISIT TO ITOJO HOSPITAL

Ntungamo development Network-Uganda in conjunction with American Foundation for Children with AIDS had a working visit to Itojo District referral hospital on 12th April 2006 and had wide discussions with the hospital AIDS/HIV management team.

The focus of the discussion centered on HIV/AIDS Management among HIV/AIDS infected children. The visiting team appreciated the efforts put in managing the HIV/AIDS pandemic. The team visited the hospital facilities and pediatric ward and identified a dedicated staff.

However the team observed that the hospital was in dire need of a CD4 Machine, an ambulance, computers for HIV/AIDS information management and tracking clients record/history, Anti retroviral Drugs for children, renovation of pediatric ward, basic equipment in laboratories, theatre and wards, repair of radio communication equipment and fridges for drugs storage.

The team was composed of Mr. Muhwezi Kahundha David, Executive Director Ntungamo Development Network; Ms Tanya Weaver, Deputy Director American Foundation for Children with AIDS who met the hospital team headed by Dr. Kworora John Hospital Medical superintendent.
