On this Women’s Day 8th March, 2006 we join the rest of the world to congratulate all women allover the World, Uganda and Ntungamo district in particular for the strides and successes made in women emancipation.

To remind ourselves of the UN women’s day theme for 2006 “LET DECISIONS TRANSLATE INTO ACTION” the task a head is enormous because we have vital women bills to be tabled to parliament; Many women and gender conferences have been conducted in which women and gender issues have been discussed; the Uganda constitution talks of 1/3 of women representation in government political structures; Domestic relations Bill is gathering dust on shelves; Equal opportunities Act is another area of concern in Uganda much as the Ugandan constitution is clear on this the chain is long . How much of what we discuss of women and gender concerns in implemented?  Let us act not words!

Women like men need access to quality water supply, access to quality education, quality health and maternity services, access to healthy sources of energy and living environment. Let us demand for women rights from our governments and communities we live in.
